Build Healthy Relationships Now

In order to facilitate good marital comunication and relationships among family members, Jodi innovated a new approach to pre-martial counseling she terms wedding coaching. What makes this approach so different is Jodi's application of the same Cognitive-Behavioral conflict resolution skills she has honed in anger management training, to family generations in addition to the engaged couple themselves. Family dynamics play an enormous role in the partnership of any couple.

The process of planning the wedding has become as much of an event as the wedding day itself.  Not surprisingly, this can lead families into more conflict than harmony since expectations are usually not voiced and taken personally.  Couples then can experience this exciting time as stressful due to unwelcome or harmful communication from family—potentially setting the tone for the new marriage and poor family dynamics. Jodi believes there is a greater chance for success when you address all the players in the conflict.

Whether you're marrying for the first time or blending stepfamilies, communication skills and conflict resolution training will address the strain you may experience.  Jodi will work to address unresolved issues from family of origin and bring in difficult family members when possible to successfully establish healthy communication and boundaries.

Wedding coaching is helpful as a traditional form of pre-marital counseling even when family dynamics are conflict-free. Use this mode of treatment strictly as a form of couples counseling and learn how to nurture the relationship for the long term while learning skills to handle inevitable conflict using the Gottman Method.

What you will do in wedding coaching:

  • Address unresolved conflict directly
  • Set realistic and healthy expectations for your wedding day and beyond
  • Identify unmet expectations and learn to verbalize them with respect
  • Learn assertive communication through conflict resolution
  • Identify top priority issues and how to choose your battles
